DDUGKY Scheme: Skill Development and Job Opportunities DDUGKY is a skill training and employment placement scheme that comes under the Ministry of Rural Development. About DDUGKY The Ministry of Rural Management announced the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gramin Kuashalaya Yojana Antyodaya Diwas on 25th September 2014. DDU-GKY is a part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), tasked with the dual objectives of adding diversity to the incomes of rural poor families and catering to the career aspirations of rural youth.
DDUGKY is uniquely focused on rural youth between the ages of 15 and 35 years from poor families. As part of the Skill India campaign, it plays an instrumental role in supporting the social and economic programs of the government, like the Make In India, Digital India, Smart Cities and Start-Up India, Stand-Up India campaigns. Over 180 million, or 69% of the country’s youth population, is between the ages of 18 and 34 years.
DDUGKY Project Details It was launched in 2014 and is part of the national rural livelihood mission. It functions in collaboration with training providers, state government and commercial entities.
The program requires a minimum of 75% placement of trained candidates in positions with monthly pay that exceeds a predetermined level. It projects stress quality training, real-time monitoring, and accountability.

At present, DDU-GKY has over 1.55 lakh candidates in training and placements. In the coming 2-3 years, DDU-GKY-approved projects to impact over 13 lakh rural poor youth at a cost of over Rs. 4,300 Cr.
