Telangana had also amended its Gaming Act in 2017 by inserting money-betting games-related provisions. Assam had prohibited fantasy websites' access by individuals as well.

However, such prohibitions have been challenged in courts time and again. Even the Madras High Court had already declared Tamil Nadu's wholesale prohibition on online gaming as unconstitutional, providing more meat to the skill-vs-chance debate for fantasy sports.

In spite of such legal ambiguity, fantasy sports have thrived. The Indian fantasy sports market is a few thousand crores and is growing at a very rapid rate.
